Maya Contreras

Maya Contreras is a PhD student in the Sociology department at the University of Colorado Boulder. She graduated from UC Santa Cruz where she participated in the Everett Program, a program supporting social justice oriented organizations using technology. Using her experience in this program, she worked with a mobile TB/HIV Care clinic treating street-level drug users in Durban, South Africa for her senior research project.

 

Currently, her research interests include the sociology of environment and health and political economy. She is particularly interested in international financial institutions and their impact on environmental and health disparities in developing countries.
